Curriculum Vision
‘A curriculum of excellence from and for our community’
Temple Learning Academy’s ‘Curriculum of Excellence’ is carefully and consciously designed to work for our community and serves to prepare our children so that they may understand and influence the world in which they live. It is built around our CORE values of Courage, Opportunity, Respect and Excellence and is designed to inspire. We strive to promote confidence to enable every student to excel both socially and academically with a strong foundation of knowledge and the skills and passion to successfully apply it.
Strong and secure relationships form the bedrock of our curriculum, enabling students to feel safe in their learning and ready to confidently embrace rigor and challenge across all subjects. A commitment to improving health for all is also carefully woven into our curriculum to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of all learners.
A relentless approach to reading, writing and maths at all key stages ensures that every student is able to access the curriculum we have designed. Through constantly revisiting basic skills all students are prepared for the next stage of their education or training when they leave us.
Carefully chosen, high quality texts inspire and empower all members of our school community through themes that reflect their heritage and culture. We encourage thoughtful questioning to dispel stereotypes or prejudice to build a cohesive, open-minded community within our school.
Through the key theme of justice, we teach our children to be resilient, to manage challenging relationships and learning through reflection and discussion.
By creating collaborative connections with communities locally, nationally and globally, we create opportunities for our students and families to experience meaningful learning beyond the classroom. Such links are designed to develop ambition in students and confidence in parents/carers as active partners in their child’s education, whilst strengthening the learning offer for future generations in East Leeds.
Temple Learning Academy nurtures individual talents and through carefully planned content, exemplary teaching and broad access to subject specialists all children have opportunities to thrive.
