Curriculum Enrichment
Primary
Curriculum areas are enhanced through real life experiences that allow pupils to develop their skills and knowledge of the topic. The TLA Character Passport ensures age appropriate experiences for pupils from Reception to Year 6 can be achieved and recognised. It ensures pupils can access certain opportunities and follows them through the primary provision. School visits are planned in line with the classroom curriculum and each class accesses at least 3 visits that either provide a hook for the topic or celebrate the learning achieved through the topic. From Year 4 pupils will access over night residential visits to build independence and resilience.
Secondary
Across the curriculum, and across different year groups, our team enhance student experiences through guest speakers, trips and visits and other out of classroom opportunities. For example, in Year 7 as part of their learning about health students take part in the Restart a Heart campaign and participate in a practical workshop delivered by West Yorkshire Ambulance Service on delivering CPR in an emergency. This gives students important knowledge to help keep themselves safe, learn about careers within the emergency services and participate in learning beyond the traditional classroom. TLA is committed to pursuing equity of engagement, so these opportunities are open to all students as part of their time with us.
