Transition into our School

May / June 2023

Our staff will visit your child at their primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to get to know each other and plan for their arrival at Temple Learning Academy. Our staff will speak to key adults within your child’s primary school to get to know their strengths and talents, what help and support they need to achieve their best and anything else which it is important for us to know before they join us.

For students who have additional educational needs, such as SEND or multi-lingual students, we will offer enhanced transition arrangements. This will include additional visits to TLA to become familiar with the building and more communications between home, primary school and our highly skilled Inclusion team.

July 2023

Your child will attend a New Starters’ Day in early July (we’ll confirm the date in your welcome pack) where they will meet their new class mates and enjoy some taster lessons in their new school. That evening, you and your child will attend a New Starters evening where you will meet key TLA staff in person, including your child’s new Form Tutor, and hear more about their experience in Year 7.

This year we will be inviting your child to join us for the last two weeks before the summer holidays. In these two weeks your child will experience a range of exciting challenges and learning opportunities, and most importantly get to know their new school and male new friends.

August 2023

We will be offering a TLA Summer Camp to our new Year 7 students. This will include a range of fun activities, learning challenges and new experiences. Students will be invited to attend the Summer Camp during the summer term.
