Uniform and Equipment

We are proud of our school uniform and all children are expected to wear it.

Items of school uniform may be purchased from The School Uniform Shop (Harehills). Major chain stores also carry stock, which fits in with our uniform requirements. We believe that the wearing of uniform gives a sense of belonging and pride in our school.

We understand that some families may struggle to provide the uniform and equipment required. Anyone experiencing hardship can contact info@tla.rklt.co.uk or call the school office on 0113 2645456 to find out about the help available to you.

Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly named.

Our school uniform is supplied by The School Uniform Shop on Harehills Lane. Children will need an appropriate outdoor coat to be worn on top of their uniform when the weather requires this. Children will need sun hats and sun cream as appropriate in the summer. Please apply sun cream before the school day starts as we cannot do this at school.

Primary – Reception to Year 6

Shoes	Black school shoes with low, broad heel or completely black trainers, suitable for walking in all weathers. If laces are worn they must be black.

Headscarves	Plain black or white. No sequins, lace or patterns.
Jewellery	No jewellery except one pair of small, stud earrings no bigger than the O on a keyboard, and a watch, which should not be valuable or ornamental. The school accepts no responsibility for the loss of valuable items. Other than one earring in each ear, piercings are forbidden.
Make – up	None allowed (including nail varnish). Acrylic or fake nails are forbidden.
Badges	School issued badges allowed only.
Hair	Simple and neat. Hair accessories should be functional not ornamental and in school colours. Hair must not be dyed or contain any unnatural colouring

Secondary – Year 7 to Year 11

Shirt and Tie	Plain white school shirt, long or short sleeved, with collar and white buttons. Shirts must be tucked inside the skirt or trousers. Polo necks are not accepted. No T-shirts or polo shirts. If a vest is worn beneath the shirt for warmth, it must be white and not visible. Yellow and navy clip-on school tie	Ties £4.99

Jewellery	Piercings Students may have piercings in their ears, not limited to one per ear. However, any ear piercings MUST be small studs. Hoops or more elaborate styles which extend from the ear are not permitted. A single nose piercing to the side of the nose is permitted but with a small, discreet stud or spacer/retainer. Piercings to the septum are not permitted. All other facial piercings are NOT permitted. ALL PIERCINGS MUST BE REMOVED FOR PRACTICAL LESSONS SUCH AS PE. Bracelets/rings/necklaces For health and safety reasons, as well as ensuring valuable items are kept safe, bracelets, rings and necklaces are not permitted to be worn in school.
Nails	For health and safety reasons, nails should be a safe length, no longer than the tip of the finger. If natural or acrylic nails are deemed too long, this must be rectified immediately otherwise the student will be placed in isolation until the nails are a safe and acceptable length

Equipment and Planners

Equipment

Years 7 - 11

It is requested that students bring their own equipment, which is kept safely in a pencil case, to school including: green pen, black pen, ruler, rubber, glue stick. Students are able to purchase items from our student shop at a small cost. If parents/carers require support in providing equipment, please contact school.

Reception to year 6

Children will not need to bring any equipment to school such as pencil cases, books or personal bags. Everything they need will be provided for them. Children should not bring additional items to school as these can easily get lost and distract children from their learning. Occasionally children will be asked to bring in things which are relevant to a school topic or activity, in these cases please make sure that all these items are carefully labelled. Reception to Y6 also need a book bag.

Planners

Students from Reception to Year 6 will be issued with a reading record or equivalent item to assist communication with parents/carers.

Students from Year 7 to Year 11 will be issued with a student planner which must be kept with students at all times. The student planner is the main form of communication between school and home. The planner has key learning information and is also used to record home learning as well as recording positive achievements throughout the school day.
