Temple Learning Academy Awarded National Nature Grant to Boost Outdoor Learning

Temple Learning Academy is proud to share that our Primary Phase has been awarded a national Nature Grant, providing £500 worth of outdoor learning equipment, resources, and staff training. The grant is funded by players of the People's Postcode Lottery and delivered through the Learning through Landscapes initiative.

This fantastic opportunity will support the development of outdoor spaces at Temple Learning Academy and help bring learning to life beyond the classroom. The initiative aims to enhance children’s connection to the natural world while supporting their curiosity, confidence, and wellbeing.

Mrs Alex Clark, Deputy Principal and Primary Lead, said, “At Temple Learning Academy, we recognise the immense value of outdoor education. With this grant, we’re excited to create even more enriching experiences that inspire and support our pupils’ learning and wellbeing."

The news was met with excitement by Team Green, the school’s eco-council, who have been working hard to improve the school grounds. Kyle, a Year 6 pupil, shared, “We are so happy that we will have help to make the most of our environment and learn to protect it for future generations.”

Principal Mr Stuart Huddleston added, “We’re absolutely thrilled to receive this Nature Grant. Outdoor learning plays a vital role in our children’s development, and this funding will help us offer more inspiring, hands-on opportunities for pupils to explore and understand the world around them. We’re very grateful for the support from the People’s Postcode Lottery and Learning through Landscapes.”

Temple Learning Academy is part of Red Kite Learning Trust, a family of 16 schools across North and West Yorkshire. The Trust’s Director of Primary Educatio, Amanda Thornton commented, “This is fantastic news for Temple Learning Academy. At Red Kite Learning Trust, we champion innovative and engaging learning experiences. This grant will further support our commitment to outdoor education across our schools. We look forward to seeing the impact this has on pupils and sharing it with our wider school communities.”

This grant marks another exciting step in our journey to provide meaningful, nature-rich learning opportunities for every child at Temple Learning Academy.
