We are dedicated to fostering a fully inclusive, respectful, and supportive school community. We celebrate diversity and champion equality, ensuring that every pupil and member of staff feels safe, valued, and empowered to succeed.

Our mission to, ‘nurture ambition, deliver excellence and enrich children’s lives’ is underpinned by our core Values of Courage, Opportunity, Respect and Excellence: our C.O.R.E. values.

Guided by our motto #BELONG, we are committed to creating a school where equality is a lived experienced, not just written in policy. We are extremely proud to be recognised as a school where nurturing is both observed and felt in our everyday culture: an ethos that defines the TLA experience of care, respect, and belonging. This commitment shapes the way we teach, support, and interact, ensuring that every member of our community can flourish both academically and personally.

At Temple Learning Academy we are committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive space for students of all religious backgrounds. Prayer spaces are available for students to access during their lunchtime each day. Students will need to make themselves known to Miss Armitage, who will go through the Prayer Space User Agreement with them. Students will then be able to access this dedicated space during their lunchtime.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Objectives

TLA EDI Goals 2025-2027 academic year objectives Why these objectives? How can we achieve this? What will the impact create?
1. Establish a culture of respect to advance equality and inclusion

Foster a culture of equality and fairness by promoting equality, celebrating diversity, and ensuring compliance with public sector equality duty.

We are committed to creating a school community where every individual feels welcome, respected, and valued. We believe that by fostering a discrimination-free environment and embracing diversity, we create an inclusive environment where all can thrive.

We will embed the principles of the Public Sector Equality Duty across our policies and practices to eliminate discrimination, promote equality, and celebrate diversity. Through inclusive education, open dialogue, community engagement, and robust reporting systems, we will foster a safe and welcoming environment for all.

We will continue to be a school with a culture of belonging and fairness where diversity is recognised, celebrated, and embedded in everyday practice. This will be reflected in higher student engagement, improved academic outcomes, and a more inclusive environment, where all individuals feel valued and empowered to succeed.

2. Creating equal opportunities and building positive relationships

Advance equality of opportunity and foster positive relationships between all individuals, regardless of protected characteristics.

Every member of our community deserves the opportunity to succeed, and we are committed to removing barriers that may prevent this. Building mutual respect and understanding across differences strengthens our school. Visual representation within all curriculums.

We will provide targeted support, promote inclusive teaching and learning, and nurture respectful, supportive relationships between all groups through curriculum and extracurricular activities. Explicit teaching of the protected characteristics.

We remain committed to ensuring that all pupils have fair and equitable access to opportunities, fostering an environment where diversity is embraced and celebrated. Through a culture of kindness, empathy, and mutual respect, we will strengthen connections across communities, enabling every individual to thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.

3. Empowering our community to celebrate diversity and challenge discrimination

Integrate meaningful curriculum content around discrimination and diversity related to race, faith, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and socio-economic background.

Our pupils need to see themselves reflected in what they learn. Understanding the richness of human diversity enables students to become informed, empathetic citizens who can challenge inequality in all its forms.

We will embed inclusive content across subjects, highlight a range of diverse role models, and ensure students engage with contemporary issues through PSHE, RS, Citizenship, PD, and tutor programmes.

Our curriculum will embed meaningful content on discrimination and diversity, ensuring that race, faith, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and socio-economic background are thoughtfully represented. This approach will foster greater awareness, empathy, and inclusivity, empowering students to challenge bias and contribute to a fairer society.

4. Ensuring full accessibility for all students, staff, and visitors

Ensure the school is fully accessible to all staff, students, and visitors, including those with disabilities, and provide access to all areas, including specialist teaching spaces.

True inclusion means everyone can participate fully in school life. Accessibility; physical, emotional, and academic; is a fundamental aspect of our commitment to equality.

We will carry out regular accessibility reviews, make reasonable adjustments where needed, and work closely with stakeholders to ensure inclusive spaces and experiences for all. Student leaders to walk around school and do a site visit.

TLA will be a beacon of inclusivity and empowerment, fostering a school culture where every individual feels physically and psychologically safe, supported, and inspired to excel. Through a commitment to respect, equity, and ambition, we will ensure that all students and staff thrive in both learning and working life, shaping a future of opportunity for all.

5. Closing gaps in attendance, achievement, and opportunity

Continue to narrow the gap in attendance and achievement between students from different learner groups.

Every student should have the opportunity to fulfil their potential, regardless of their background or starting point. We believe in identifying and addressing disparities early and effectively.

We will closely monitor data, deliver high-quality interventions, and work in partnership with families to identify the diversity of the critical cohort and ensure consistent attendance, engagement, and support for progress.

TLA is committed to driving educational equity by ensuring that all learners, especially those from disadvantaged or underrepresented groups receive the support they need to thrive. Through targeted interventions, inclusive teaching practices, and robust monitoring, we will narrow the gap in attendance and achievement, fostering a school environment where every student can succeed.

6. Fostering equality, diversity, and inclusion across our staff team

Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion across the staff team through recruitment, induction, and ongoing professional development.

A diverse and inclusive workforce strengthens our school community. We want all staff to feel valued, supported, and equipped to contribute meaningfully to our shared mission.

We will ensure inclusive recruitment practices, provide regular training on equality and inclusion, and support ongoing professional growth and leadership opportunities for all staff.

TLA fosters a workplace culture where staff feel valued, respected, and empowered, recognising diverse experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives as essential to collective success.
